Why We Need to Think BEYOND Tech (As Tech Professionals)

2 min readFeb 24, 2025

Introduction:

This week’s blog post might seem obvious but it covers a topic that many people in tech fail to consider when creating new products.

As always, before we get into the blog post, please make sure to applaud, comment and share with your friends.

Happy Reading!

Why Do This?

Chances are, your software will be used by non-technical people.

At the very least, it will be used by a wider range of people than just yourself or just the development team so there has to be a consideration as to how people will actually use your product.

When developing, it’s easy to think that your approach is the best however you need to validate this as soon as possible in order to avoid potentially wasting time.

You need to think about the demographics of your audience as well as their technical literacy because these factors can make/break the user’s experience with your application. The worst case scenario is that your apps could be totally unusable if the required considerations haven’t been made.

This links to the steps behind creating a start-up: Remember the problem that you’re trying to solve and ensure that’s at the core of your work as opposed to the underlying complexity.

How Can I Consider Other Areas:

Take an interest into things beyond tech: Health, Finance, Business… Tech is amazing but ultimately, all these areas link together to contribute to solving problems for your users!!

Speak to your potential end users. Create surveys. Understand what they want and things they’d like to avoid.

Take some time before any development to map out who your end user is. Do some planning to develop a clear strategy and be sure to validate this in order to avoid wasting time.

Conclusion:

Like I said in the introduction, the purpose of this week’s blog post was just to reiterate a fairly well known point (Albeit not always followed!!) in the world of tech.

There’s always a need to think beyond tech but also, remember that all these different sectors (Tech, Finance, Operations, Marketing…) honestly do interrelate which each other.
