As the title indicates, I’m talking about why I DON’T add projects from YouTube tutorials to my portfolio.

Typically the creators of these projects do encourage you to add them to your portfolio because they will help you land jobs HOWEVER:

Reasons Against:

Doing this means you can end up falling into the habit of copying code!!

Because you’re following a planned tutorial, you aren’t actually thinking about how the app was made (an important part of Software Development is the Analysis stage at the start).

If you put a project from a tutorial on your portfolio; you run the risk of an interviewer asking you a question that you mightn’t know the answer to!!

These projects become less original/in demand; once they’re published online!

Exceptions(?!):

You fully understand the code.

You make changes to improve the projects!
