The Future of Digital:

Introduction:

Welcome back to the blog!

This topic was actually one that I had to talk about in an interview. I found it quite interesting so thought that I should share it with everyone!

One key point to bear in mind with this article is that it’s strictly my opinion! A lot of these concepts are still in their early phases therefore me or anyone else can’t really guarantee what the future of digital will actually be. All we know is that it’s quite exciting!

What I Believe the Future of Digital Will Consist Of:

The Metaverse:

Elon Musk once said that ‘your phone is just an extension of you’ and whilst he isn’t particularly favourable on the Metaverse, there’s still potential.

I believe that because we are already surrounded by Tech everywhere (Phones, Laptops, IoT …) , the idea of immersing ourselves into a Digital World for some tasks isn’t unimaginable.

This would allow us to store data in a decentralised way, make use of NFT’s and the Blockchain to vastly improve our ways of working and our uses of Technology. (Some of these concepts will be discussed later in the article).

NFT’s:

So NFT’s are currently trending!

Lots of famous people are spending large amounts of money on them; even creating their own!

Are they just silly pictures of Monkey’s?

NO!!!

The whole concept of an NFT is that something Digital (currently an image but could go as far as Digital Art, Videos, …) can be uniquely distinguishable from others. The common case being that if you screenshot something then you could technically own it (NFT’s negate this).

It’s still early days and I do believe that the idea of buying monkeys is silly. There are also lots of scams (rug pulls) that you need to be mindful of.

With that being said, I feel as though with time, this idea could be implemented into society, quite easily. I guess we will just have to stay tuned to see what happens.

Decentralisation:

This concept is all about giving people control of their data, as opposed to large companies.

Currently this is an essential component of Cryptocurrencies and The Blockchain because there is greater security for our data (using Decentralised Ledgers). This also allows us to spread the risk amongst many nodes and this concept can be applied to Software Development too; many around DAO’s and DApps (I’ll discuss these in a later article).

AI and Driverless Cars:

AI is only only the rise and with all these new concepts arising, surely Driverless cars must be coming soon!

This is something I’m really looking forward to!!!

Web 4, Web 5 …:

And lastly, with Web 3 and all these concepts around Blockchain, Crypto and Decentralisation on the rise; what could come after that?

These concepts are already crazy, excited and mind blowing but like I just said, that begs the question about what can come after that?!!
