Introduction:

So last week, I was fortunate enough to attend two great conferences (One based around Cyber Security and the other was concerned with using data for innovation).

I had an amazing time at both of these events and this week’s blog post aims to quickly summarise a great couple of days.

As always, before we get into the content, please make sure to applaud, comment and share with your friends.

Happy Reading!

Aspire CyberFest:

This event clearly focussed on the human elements of cyber security. It’s no secret that humans are considered the weakest link in the security supply chain and this event included an amazing talk about Social Engineering.

One quote that stood out was “I don’t need to work on the lock ,I just need to work WITH the human”.

For the most part, this audience seemed to be a business audience rather than a technical audience. This is often the case with corporate events.

On a more positive note though, there were technical demonstrations and explanations of the following attacks:

Fonseca Wordpress Attack.

MFA Bypass

Token Theft (Man in the middle).

All in all, this event simply conveyed critical Cyber Security principles and included demos too!

Data Innovation:

This event was actually the day after the CyberFest and touched on real-world use cases of Data Science, Machine Learning and AI.

Speaking to companies like Blueline and Altair, it was exciting to see the impacts that data has on their decisions.

There was also a talk about Graph databases and their speed with separate talks touching on vector embedding too.

All in all, it’s always beneficial to hear about how technology is impacting businesses and providing greater value to customers.

Conclusion:

All in all, I was able to attend 2 great events!

At the very least, I was able to grab plenty of freebies but I was able to learn from some great expert speakers.

The main general theme was clearly the focus on the human element of Cyber Security from Aspire CyberFest. From the Data Innovation Event, there was also an element of human focus (For e.g. how B
