Introduction:

So right now, at the time of writing this post, I have just completed my second ever “Assessment Centre Day”. I wrote about my first ever experience of one of these days HERE and I intend to do the same here.

As always, I try to keep the discussion on a high level (Don’t want to breach confidentiality) but I also like to give my honest experiences and opinions.

Find out how I got on here!

As always, before we get into the article, please make sure to applaud, comment and share with your friends.

Happy Reading!

What I Knew Beforehand:

In person.

That it would only last for a few hours (Surprising to me considering they’re typically a long, busy day!).

One group exercise.

One interview where I’d have to also deliver a presentation about myself.

The Day Itself:

Initial Thoughts:

This place is nice!

I’d opted for a suit. There was no explicit dress code specified however this time I’d opted for a nice suit!

Group Exercise:

Non technical, genuinely just to see how we communicate as a group.

Very, very relaxed in comparison to my previous assessment centre.

It was interesting to see that we were responsible for our own timekeeping and I instantly set a timer to ensure we didn’t overrun.

Like I said, this was very relaxed and the feedback was really positive.

5 Minute Chats With Managers:

To my surprise, the ‘interview’ was just a series of informal chats with managers from different departments (Cloud, Dev, Test …).

For the most part, these were very relaxed with only a couple of challenging questions.

Final Presentation:

I knew what to expect here since I’d prepared it prior to the assessment day.

Since I’ve done so much presenting now, this felt fine and the questions after felt okay too.

Conclusion:

Of course until you get the result from an assessment centre, you never know what’s going to happen.

With that being said, I thought the day went very well and whatever happens, happens.

Final Things:

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this article.
