Introduction:

Recently, events have been coming thick and fast!

I was able to go to 2, very different events. This week’s blog post aims to document my experiences at them.

As always, before we get into this week’s blog post, please make sure to applaud, comment and share with your friends.

Happy Reading!

Events:

Agile:

First things first, I like going to these events because it’s not just software engineers there. There’s PM’s Scrum Masters, Managers, even CTO’s … and the benefit of this is that there are so many different perspectives in 1 room. We never know where career’s might go so being able to think beyond ‘just the code’ is essential.

This event started off with a talk from an experienced professional about all things agile. It was quite blunt, calling out things like ‘The 12 Agile Principles’ (Barely anyone seems to know all these); estimates (They’re never accurate) and of course Retrospectives (A little bit of conflict is needed!!). All in all, this presentation addressed several different aspects of Agile; highlighted problems and shared a wealth of knowledge in a fairly relaxed way.

The 2nd half of this event actually broke off into a persona’s/storyboarding exercise in relation to Agile Retrospectives. This brought in AI and actually reminded me of when I used to study Human Computer Interaction (HCI) as the exercise was fairly similar.

My last comments from this event are just that I was able to meet a wide range of people within the technical space. Data Analyst’s, Founders, CTO’s.

Lightning Talks:

This event was slightly different. 6 lightning talks (About AWS), back to back.

So many great topics were covered. The ‘Well Architected Framework’; Testing LLM Outputs; Pulumi; How Cloud can cost you money; How Cloud can save you money as well as a talk about huge AWS Bills.

Plenty of knowledge and experience shared and I can’t wait for the next one.

Conclusion:

All in all, both events were great in different ways.

The same theme applies no matter the event: Get in more rooms with a wide range of professsionals (In and around tech) that are smarter than me and then just see what I can learn.

Final Things:

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this article!
