Introduction:

This week’s blog post reflects on a great hackathon that I was able to attend. Read further to see how it went!

As always, before we get into this week’s post, be sure to applaud, comment and share with your friends.

Happy Reading!

Event Overview:

Ran by Leeds City Council. Sponsored by AWS, Lloyds Banking Group, Credera, Tracsis and many more… This event brought people from all different backgrounds (dev/not dev, from Leeds/not from Leeds, like me) to contribute to work in teams and develop a solution to 1 of the following tracks:

Thoughts Going Into It:

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect.

In my mind, I was hoping to do some programming and see what could be built in such a short timeframe.

What Happened?

We didn’t have time to do any actual coding.

The event was supported by Hypi, a great no code solution for getting solutions out there fast!

We had a lot of great discussions about using ML, legal considerations as well as the different technology solutions we could’ve implemented if we had more time.

Would’ve been great to vlog this event!

Hacking Over, Now What?

Time to network.

Overall Conclusion:

Looking back, this event really got me thinking about the use of data to benefit Leeds. I was able to speak to people from many different backgrounds.

I didn’t win :(

I had loads of fun.

I got to meet a lot of great, new people.

I wish I was able to pitch but it was great to listen to a lot of great pitches.

It was great to delve into ML after a long time off.

I was able to make a few useful connections.

Final Things:

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this week’s blog post. As always, I can’t recommend hackathons enough!
