Introduction:

As some of you will know, I’m fascinated by Cloud Computing. In the past, I’ve tried to incorporate the cloud (FireBase/GCP) into my Software Development projects wherever possible.

This week’s blog post actually documents the start of my journey into the world of Cloud Certifications. I’ve started preparing for the “AWS Cloud Practicioner” Certification. I’m sharing how I look to prepare for this certification.

As always, before getting into the post, please remember to applaud, comment and share with your friends.

Happy Reading!

Methods:

I learn in many different ways and I know that 1 source of learning just isn’t enough for me. When I spend so much time on 1 source, I like the option of being able to switch over to another.

PluralSight:

This is my go-to source for preparing for the exam. It covers all the different topics that could come up on the exam; in the form of video content and even has some free, practical labs which allow you to get hands on with AWS Services.

Technical Skills From Job:

As a developer, I get some exposure to the AWS Console and SDK.

Whilst the Cloud Practioner Certification seemingly doesn’t go into too much detail in terms of code; being able to see how code can relate to AWS resources is only being beneficial. Even something as small as observing CloudWatch logs provides greater exposure to the platform.

W3Schools:

While PluralSight is my core learning source, W3Schools will be an alternative that I can ‘skim through’, while still covering all of the topics for the exam.

Occasional Internet Browsing:

So I’ve mentioned my main sources online but there’s still plenty of others that will come in handy.

YouTube:

For a different style of video, YouTube is perfect. Rather than strict exam content, this will enable me to hear first-hand from tech professionals that have already completed the exam, sharing their own experiences. YouTube videos can also provide practical examples of projects using AWS.

AWS Docs:

Naturally, this certification touches on many different AWS Services and the best place to delve deeper into them is the documentation.

Conclusion:

All in all, I’ve found a variety of knowledge sources that will supplement my AWS Learning.

The process will take time but I’m excited to learn even more when it comes to AWS.

Final Things:

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this article!
