Happy New Year & Here’s *SOME of* My 2023 Computer Science Goals!!

Introduction:

Hello World!

It’s the first blog post of the new year so lets start off by wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

The main aim of this post is to kick of the year strong and also outline some of my plans for this year. Personally I like to share my goals regardless of how many I actually achieve.

Computer Science-Related Goals:

Blog:

Continue posting 1 blog post per week.

Software Engineering:

Continue building up my proficiency as a developer as to me, this is ‘the bread and butter’ of any Computer Science related career.

Finally deploy my portfolio website — (it has been ‘in development for far too long).

Content:

Start my YouTube Channel — It’s something I’ve always wanted to do yet always postponed so this will be the year where I make it happen. It’s planned for September 2023 but could be sooner👀.

Increase my Instagram content to at least 3 times a week — This can include stories however the consistency on Instagram in 2022 was poor and I know that I can do far better.

University/More Theoretical:

Go through the book ‘A Computational Introduction to Number Theory and Algebra’ and attempt to learn all of the theory — The purpose of this is to aid my decision making on whether or not to take this module before university🤔.

Deep dive into Cyber Security — This somewhat links to the previous goal however this intends to be more practical, involving labs. I want to have enough experience so that once I return to university, the CTF’s there feel easy and so that I have a solid foundation in the world of Cyber Security.

Channeling my Eagerness Into Something Tangible:

Summarise other topics that interest me and come up with projects that represent them — I have many interests: Cloud Computing, Blockchain, Web 3.0, Cyber Security, HCI however it’s impossible for me to specialise in all of them. With that being said, I would like to spend time exploring these areas and generating something to represent them rather than just my curiosity and eagerness.
